The VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau – German Engineering Federation) represents the interests of over 3 200 companies in the capital goods industry and is thus the largest industry association in Europe. With a turnover of 224 bn. € (2017), it is one of the leading industry sectors in Germany.

The mechanical and plant engineering sector is developing solutions to meet today’s major challenges – day after day. The mechanical and plant engineering sector is Germany’s largest employer with 1,35 million employees, and it is the backbone of the German economy.

The products and services of the plant and machinery manufacturing sector are in demand worldwide. More than three quarters of Germany’s production is exported. The VDMA provides a voice for the positions of its members in both national and international discourse. 38 VDMA associations represent the interests of companies from the individual engineering sectors within and beyond the association. Thus the VDMA covers the entire process chain of the capital goods industry, from the component to the plant, from system suppliers to system integrators and service providers. The VDMA Working Group Medical Technology represents supplier, manufacturers of production equipment and all industry sectors active in the field of medical technology sector inside a joint platform.
