STAIGER – Fluid Control Excellence: Over 50 years of experience and innovation

STAIGER has stood for first-class solutions in the field of fluid technology for more than 50 years. As an owner-managed family business with around 200 employees, we develop high-precision solenoid valves and customized fluidic systems that set standards worldwide. Our focus is on uncompromising quality, maximum flexibility and a strong customer orientation - always with the aim of delivering tailor-made solutions for a wide range of applications.

At our plant in Erligheim, 30 kilometers north of Stuttgart, we accompany every product from the initial idea through to large-scale production. All production and testing equipment is developed in-house to ensure the highest standards. Every valve is 100% tested and documented before delivery - for maximum reliability and customer satisfaction.

Innovative solutions for medical and analysis technology

Trust and reliability are essential in medical technology: our solenoid valves are indispensable in applications such as ventilators, anesthesia machines, in vitro diagnostics (IVD), respiratory therapy devices, electronically controlled prostheses or proportional valves in artificial hearts. The long service life and high reproducibility of these components stand for our high quality standards and guarantee the reliability that life-saving systems require.

Our products comply with all relevant statutory material specifications.

Our expertise

We work closely with our customers to develop components that do more than just provide technology: They save lives, promote health, support a sustainable reduction in CO₂ emissions and contribute to the communication infrastructure of the future. We see ourselves as a partner on an equal footing, using our innovative strength and expertise to jointly implement the best solutions.

Experience fluid control excellence at the highest level with STAIGER!

Products & Services

Components for Medical Devices

Our competences
Together with our customers, we develop and produce components that not only save lives and improve people’s health, but also eliminate CO2 emissions and represent the communication infrastructure of the future.

Valve solutions for medical technology
Whether for neonatal ventilators, anesthesia machines in intensive care units, or proportional valves in artificial hearts: reliability is the most important property of a product in medical technology! The long service life and high reproducibility of our solenoid valves testify to high quality standards.

Our products are used for Ventilation and anesthesia devices, Incubators for neonatals, Rapid diagnostic systems (IVD), Sleep apnea therapy devices, Oxygen concentrators, Pipetting systems, artificial hearts, …

Spider® Valves

Instead of having a plunger which moves through a coil, Spider-Valves have a flat armature that is pulled against the magnetic yoke in the energized position. The flat armature is fastened together with a leaf spring that presses the integrated sealing element against the valve seat in the de-energized position.

STAIGER Spider-Valves

Spider µProp® valves

We have brought all our competencies to embed all the key features of our Spider technology in a new proportional valves series: the Spider µProp. Already successful used in respiratory, fuel cell system or in electronic flow regulators, the Spider µProp may be controlled using DC current or PWM in open or closed loop control.

STAIGER Spider µProp-Valves

Spider HiProp® Pressure-balanced proportional valve

This valve combines the advantages of the Spider-µProp technology with th benefits of a pressure balanced valve. Due to its large orifice, high flow rates are possible. Furthermore, the valve is distinguished by a high reproducibility of the lift-off point. The electrical power consumption lies thereby in the lowest range of the plate armature technology. The compact design of the valve provides a variety of assembly options for different areas of application.

STAIGER Sensor Valve - World‘s smallest solenoid valve with integrated sensor

Staiger is known in the world of fluidics for small, precise and fast solenoid valves with very long service lives.

To demonstrate its expertise in micro valve technology, but also in electronics, Staiger has now developed the world‘s smallest solenoid valve with an integrated sensor for measuring pressure and temperature. The valve is a 2-way spider valve with a size of 7 mm.

Thanks to the integrated sensor, this valve can be used to simultaneously measure pressure and temperature at the inlet of the valve or at the outlet of the valve, depending on the operating direction of the valve. This makes it possible for the first time to monitor the status of a pneumatic or fluidic system without additional interfaces, without additional installation effort and without additional installation space, and also to actively control it via the valve - and all with just one component!

Complex fluidic systems in particular, in which numerous components are installed, are susceptible to leaks due to the many interfaces, which are typically difficult to localize. The valve with integrated sensor effectively reduces the number of such interfaces and therefore also potential sources of error. In addition, such a valve with integrated sensor also reduces the installation effort.

STAIGER media-separated 5 mm-Valve - The world's smallest and fastest media-isolated solenoid valve

The company has now launched the smallest and fastest solenoid valve to date in a media-isolated version. The valve has an outer diameter of just 5 mm and can dispense liquids with a switching time of just 1 ms and a precision of 10 nL without special control electronics. The very short switching time also results in a very high repeat accuracy, which enables extremely precise dosing processes at high speed. These properties are particularly relevant in applications such as in vitro diagnostics (IVD), laboratory automation, pipetting or inkjet printing, where it is important to be able to dispense very small quantities of liquid quickly and precisely.

Alongside other technologies, such as piezo, shape memory or linear actuators, which are used as drives in valves, electromagnets are still the most cost-effective and robust solution in valve technology, also in terms of actuation.

STAIGER 2-way 5 mm-Valve

Precise flow rates - low power consumption - large pressure range

This new STAIGER 2-way 5 mm-Valve is ideally suited as a pilot valve and for dosing the smallest volumes of non-aggressive media. This ultra small and fast switching valve follows the trend of further miniaturization and thus enables even smaller installation spaces and a higher integration density than before.

STAIGER proportional solenoid valve with metal diaphragm

World's first proportional solenoid valve with metal diaphragm

Staiger is known in the fluidics world for its reliable proportional solenoid valves with high precision, dynamics and durability.

Now the company has developed a completely new type of proportional valve that balances pressure via a high-precision metal diaphragm. This is Staiger's response to applications with gaseous media for which there are currently no permanently resistant elastomer diaphragm materials. In summary, this pressure-balanced proportional valve with metal diaphragm is primarily used where classic valves with elastomer diaphragms cannot be used due to technical or regulatory requirements.

The proportional valve also has the typical Staiger properties, such as very high precision, high dynamics and a very long service life.

In addition to other technologies, such as piezo, shape memory or linear actuators, which are used as actuators in valves, electromagnets are still the most cost-effective and robust solution in valve technology, also in terms of actuation.

STAIGER Proportional Solenoid Valve with Metal Diaphragm

Elektronic pressure regulator with solenoid valves

To demonstrate its expertise in micro valve technology, but also in electronics, Staiger has now developed the world's smallest pressure regulator based on solenoid valves. The pressure regulator measures just L 28mm x W 12mm x H 36mm, fits into a matchbox and consists of 2 micro valves, each with an outer diameter of 5mm, the control electronics and the connection block. The pressure regulator is highly dynamic and, thanks to its small and lightweight design, is ideally suited for use on mobile devices or moving applications.

Thanks to its simple design, the pressure regulator is comparatively inexpensive and can be easily adapted to customer-specific requirements.
